Frugal Living Tips - Having A Baby
68Having a new baby coming can be one of the least frugal times in our life. With clothes, toys, decorations, and all the fun little things that are made just for babies it can be easy to go overboard. But you do not have to go broke to welcome a new child into the house. Here are a few simple tips that you can use to have a baby, frugally.
Second hand clothes are a great deal when you have a new baby. Children grow at a very fast rate, often an outfit will only be worn once or twice before it is outgrown. Because of this many second hand shops are full of baby clothes that are in near perfect condition, many that have never been worn. You can get a great wardrobe for your little one at a fraction of the cost by buying second hand clothes first.
Skip the gadgets. Newborns and young infants really do not need all the lights, sounds, and motions that so many toy companies claim they do. Instead of buying a dozen battery operated, flashing toys use simple things to stimulate your child. Your face is often the best, and favorite, thing for your child to look at. Just by carrying your child and showing him the things around your house you can entertain and stimulate your child.
You do not need every piece of nursery furniture out there. Changing tables are notorious for being a waste of parent's money. Once your baby starts rolling over it is no longer safe to use the changing table at all. Many parents admit that it is often easier to lay the baby on the floor and change diapers while seated, especially once they begin rolling and crawling. Bouncing seats, baby swings, and playpens are other nursery items that many families choose to skip. These can be costly to buy and are often overused. Babies need to be held and cuddled to grow, and overuse of these can often hurt. Some parents are skipping the nursery entirely and opting to have their baby near them while they are young. Buying a co-sleeper that attaches to the bed or choosing to co-sleep with their baby eliminates the need to buy any nursery items and makes late night feedings much easier to do.
Choose things that you will not have to buy constantly. Infant formula and disposable diapers are purchases that have to be made often and can cost quite a lot. Choose instead to feed your child for free by breastfeeding and to use reusable cloth diapers is an easy way to reduce some of the larger costs of a new baby. These two choices will also help save money in the long term. Breastfeeding helps your child's immune system to be strong, meaning less doctor visits and prescriptions needed. Cloth diapers can mean fewer diaper rashes and less need to buy special creams and lotions.
Bringing a new baby into the world can be a wonderful and amazing thing. But it can also be costly. By making a few simple choices in how you shop and what you buy, you can easily save money without depriving your new baby of all the things he needs.

Excellent! The stores make you think that you NEED everything. Diapers, clothes, bedding, bed, and a carseat is enough.
